Services Of The House
A full menu of things we love to do behind the counter of a village cafe at the edge of Coniston Water. Pick what suits your day, your walk or your gathering.
Morning Coffee and Pastries
Our day begins with the grinder. We open the counter for the early crowd: flat whites, lattes, filter brews and a warm case of pastries supplied fresh by a Coniston bakerfriend. Take a window seat or grab your drink to go as you head to the shore.
From £2.90
Lakeside Packed Lunches
Walkers and boaters trust our packed lunches. Each waxed crate bundles a filling toastie or sandwich, a seasonal snack, fruit and a flask of tea or coffee, wrapped tight for the fell. Tell us your route and we will help you plan the weight of your bag.
On request at the counter
Afternoon Cake Counter
Under the glass dome sit the cakes baked that morning. Fruit scones, a daily sponge, brownies and our beloved sticky toffee slice. The counter slows after lunch, so late afternoons are a peaceful time for tea and a slice with a lake view.

Private Events and Wake Catering
When you need a whole room and a caring table, we close the cafe to the public for your gathering. Family wakes, remembrance teas, birthdays and quiet celebrations are arranged with real care. Choose a menu, tell us your numbers and we attend to the details.

Bean Sales and Home Brewing Kits
Love our coffee at home? We sell whole beans from the bag we roast for. Pair a bag with a home brewing kit of filters, a small guide and camp recommendations so your kitchen coffee tastes like a morning on Yewdale Road.

Community Notice Board Nights
Once a month the notice board becomes a menu of the village spirit. Leaf swaps, craft evenings, litter picks and photography meetups gather people round our counter. Ask us when the next night falls and we will save you a chair by the fire.

How A Visit Unfolds
Whether you stop for a flat white or plan a full gathering, the way we work stays the same. Three calm steps from your hello to your goodbye.
1
Say Hello at the Counter
Come in and take in the specials board. Tell us what kind of day you are having and we will read the menu towards it.
2
Order Your Favourites
Flat white, packed lunch or a slice from the dome, we make it fresh while you settle in. Large cake orders and events are agreed up front.
3
Enjoy and Come Again
Take the window table, catch the lake light and feel at home. Most of our guests become regulars on the very first visit.
Catering For Evenings & Mornings
We cater to both ends of the Cumbria day. Sunrise suits the packed lunch and the thermos; sunset suits the set table and the dome of sweet things. Whatever hour you choose, we shape the offering to the people you are bringing round the table.
For gatherings we talk through dietary needs first. Vegetarian, plant based, low gluten or simply fussy, we prepare plates that no one has to ask about twice. Every counter says yes to a full teapot and a patient ear.
Stocking Your Own Counter Cupboard
Take a little of the cafe home. Bags of our roast beans, jars of homemade jam with their cloth caps and the occasional bake that travels well all cross our counter on the way out.
The home brewing kit makes a thoughtful gift for a walker near you. Everything is packed on Yewdale Road and can be collected or posted across the United Kingdom. Ask at the counter about posting, collection and bulk orders for shops.
Choose Your Own Order
Browse the boards, ask about a gathering or order beans to go. We reply quickly and happily to every message and call.
